Another oldie:
Eight Years On
Who can doubt the wisdom
Of the yes I said that day;
With all the gifts and blessings
That have since come my way?
Your love is so astounding,
So deep, so strong, so free;
Most baffling of all is that
It’s fully aimed at me.
What can I do to reflect back
The good that flows from you?
To show you in my meagre ways
That I still love you too?
I’ll try to find each fine new day
New ways to make you smile;
To lessen each day’s burdens
And share your hopes and trials.
My precious one, you’ll never know
How good you are for me;
I hope that I can be for you
An ever fruitful tree.
